ECLA General Counsel Roundtable – Antitrust & Competition Law
The General Counsel Roundtable is an invitation only event for general counsel all across Europe, hosted by the European Company Lawyers Association (ECLA). The event will bring together 30 general counsel and decision makers from legal departments to discuss in depth current challenges and latest developments in antitrust and competition law. The event is planned as a half-day exclusive meeting that includes open dialogue during a fireside chat on the eve of the roundtable. General counsel are invited to the event and do only have to organize and pay for their travel arrangements.

Veronica Pinotti

‘Veronica Pinotti is an Italian qualified lawyer with more than 20 years of experience in the area of EU competition and regulatory law. Veronica regularly advises European and international clients before the European Commission, national competition regulatory authorities, as well as civil and administrative courts. Axel P. Schulz

Axel is the Executive Partner of the Brussels office. He supports clients with a broad range of German and European Commission competition law matters.
He offers clients the benefit of his significant experience in this field, having handled merger control cases involving collective dominance and countervailing buyer power, as well as structural links issues in industries including aluminum, paper, energy, automotive, pharmaceuticals and medical devices.

Jacquelyn represents leading global corporations in their antitrust deals and in investigations. Tilman Kuhn

Tilman’s international experience across various locations includes merger control reviews, cartel matters, vertical conduct investigations, dominance matters, civil and appellate litigation and advisory work, as well as foreign investment control work. He represents clients across key industries, from oil & gas to chemicals, pharmaceuticals, consumer products, automotive and tech.
Prior to joining White & Case, Tilman worked in the Cologne office for a renowned US law firm, with a particular focus on German and European antitrust law. During this time, he spent one year at the Brussels office.
Juve states competitors are describing him as “good and well experienced, especially regarding merger control cases”. He is a prolific author on antitrust law and is an active member of Studienvereinigung Kartellrecht.
Marc Israel
Partner, London, White & Case
Marc is a partner in the Firm’s Global Antitrust Practice. He has considerable experience in a wide range of antitrust work and has been involved in some of the most high-profile UK and European cases in recent years in the fields of M&A, cartels and antitrust litigation. Many of these cases have determined the way important procedural matters are considered in mergers, antitrust and litigation cases and led to changes in guidance published by the UK authorities and the European Commission.
Much of Marc’s work involves dealing with cross-border cases (both for UK and overseas clients) and he regularly represents clients before the UK and European competition authorities, and has also appeared before the UK and European courts in competition cases.
Jonathan Marsh

Jonathan Marsh has developed extensive experience over the past 29 years in international business transactions, with over 20 years’ experience in the energy sector, involving long term projects with long investment horizons. He has deep knowledge of geopolitical and legal risk assessments. Recognized within his profession, Mr. Marsh serves in leadership roles in French and European professional associations. Jonathan Marsh currently serves as Deputy General Counsel of the Marketing Services Division of the Total S.A. Group legal department. In this role Mr. Marsh manages the legal activities performed by 170 in-house legal counsel in over 100 countries. He serves on the Group Legal Committee consisting of 10 General Counsel supervising the global team of 550 lawyers in the Total Group. Previously Mr. Marsh was International General Counsel from 2015 to 2017.
From 2002 to 2015, Mr. Marsh led the Mergers, Acquisitions and Finance Division of the Total S.A. Holding Group Legal Department.Mr. Marsh also served as Group US Counsel, supervising in particular relations with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Mr. Marsh also serves as President of the European Company Lawyers Association, as Vice President International Affairs and on the Board of Directors of the French In-house Counsel Association (Association Française des Juristes d’Entreprises – AFJE) as well as on the Management Committee of the French M&A Association (Association des Responsables de Fusions Acquisitions).
Mr. Marsh holds a Juris Doctor (Graduating cum laude and recipient of the Order of the Coif), and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations (Economic Phases) and French from the University of Wisconsin ‐ Madison. Nominated by the French Prime Minister, Mr. Marsh participated in the 65thNational Session (2012-13) of the French Institut des Hautes Etudes de Défense Nationale, a military training program focusing on geopolitical risks and strategies for high ranking military officers and private sector leaders.
Miguel Perez Guerra
Senior Competition Counsel, Google
Miguel is a senior competition counsel at Google in London, where he advises and oversees antitrust matters throughout the EMEA region. He previously worked at Amazon in its European headquarters in Luxembourg, where he was lead counsel to the pan-EU retail and marketplace e-commerce businesses. Prior to moving in-house, he was a senior associate at Linklaters’ Competition & Antitrust team, and was an associate at Clifford Chance’s European Competition and Regulation group before that. He qualified into the Energy & Telecoms department at Spanish law firm Garrigues. He is a graduate in law and in economics by Comillas-ICADE University in Madrid, and has studied international and EU law at Georgetown University and at King’s College London.
Company Secretary and Head of Corporate Affairs and President of AIGI
Giuseppe Catalano has been Company Secretary and Head of Corporate Affairs at Assicurazioni Generali SpA since January 2015, with responsibility for coordinating corporate governance-related activities, including serving as secretary of the Board of Directors and Board Committees. Previously, from 2005 to January 2015 he was Legal and Corporate Affairs Executive Director at Indesit Company SpA and from 2000 to 2005 he was Head of Legal and Corporate Affairs at Natuzzi SpA, listed on the NYSE, and before that he was in-house counsel at banks in Italy and Luxembourg. He is a qualified lawyer and earned a Ph.D. graduation from Sant’Anna School in Pisa. Giuseppe has also been a lecturer of International Trade Law and an expert witness for the State Prosecutor in a criminal prosecution relating to analysis of the investigated companies’ compliance models under Italian legislative decree 231/2001. He is the author of several academic articles in various areas of civil and commercial law.
Giuseppe is now the Chairman of AIGI, the Italian Association of In-House Lawyers.
