Shaghayegh Smousavi has long-standing experience advising utilities, project developers, investors, financial institutions and asset management companies as well as industrial companies on energy sector topics for many years with a focus on regulation, renewable energies and hydrogen as well as digitalization and blockchain. Furthermore she supports her clients in their ESG transformation. She also has many years of expertise in complex transactions and in the financing of regulated assets.
In addition, she regularly represents her clients in proceedings before the Federal Court of Justice and various higher regional courts. She has frequently been awarded as one of Germany’s leading energy lawyers.

Rogier de Vrey has extensive experience in advising on all aspects of intellectual property and media & advertising matters.

Rogier did his PhD on unfair competition and advertising law. During his PhD, Rogier worked at several renowned institutions, including the European Commission and the Max Planck Institute in Munich. In his practice, Rogier has a particular focus on international intellectual property law matters, both transactions and litigation. He advises in the areas of parallel trade, anti-counterfeiting, ambush marketing, sponsorship and licensing, ticketing regulation, exploitation and enforcement of (digital) media rights, advertising and IP infringement.

Rogier is associate professor at Utrecht University and member of the Editorial Board of the renowned Intellectual Property and Advertising Law Magazine (IER). He is author of several publications in the field of IP/TMC, e.g. coauthor of the leading handbook on Enforcement of IP rights.

María González Gordon heads the Intellectual Property & Digital Business practice at CMS Albiñana & Suárez de Lezo (CMS Spain). She specialises in advising domestic and international companies on intellectual and industrial property, media, technology and digital businesses, with a particular focus in litigation and negotiation in those fields.

María is coManaging Partner of the firm and sits at the board of directors of CMS Spain and at its Executive Committee. Dr Björn Herbers is a German qualified competition and regulatory lawyer based in the CMS EU Law Office in Brussels. He has significant experience in complex proceedings before the European Commission and the European courts and furthermore regularly represents clients before national authorities. Björn’s practice particularly focuses on competition law in the digital economy. He has also successfully represented clients in several headline cases in the telecommunications sector.

Björn joined CMS in 2009 after training with, inter alia, the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Competition and the German National Regulatory Authority and has been a partner within the CMS EU Law Office since 2017. In 2015, he was seconded to a leading competition economics consultancy firm in Brussels.
