This interactive session explores how AI impacts legal due diligence, focusing on key questions to ask when evaluating target companies with AI capabilities and the implications for warranties and risk allocation. Participants will work through a hands-on case study to identify legal red flags and present practical solutions for managing AI-related risks in acquisitions.

11:30 The key role of Standards in ensuring compliance with the AI Act
High-risk AI systems must meet the AI Act’s requirements on risk management, data governance, transparency, human oversight, and cybersecurity. Article 40(1) introduces harmonised standards that, once developed, create a presumption of conformity for compliant systems. To support this, the European Commission issued a Standardisation Request to European Standards bodies. Around 40 standards are currently in development, aiming to simplify compliance and reduce the burden on providers and deployers. This session will highlight key standards and their main features.
12:30 Q&A and open discussions
13:00 Lunch

The rise of artificial intelligence and sweeping digitalization is not just a technological shift; it’s a fundamental reshaping of the business and legal landscape. For General Counsel, this new era presents both unprecedented opportunities for innovation and a complex web of emerging risks.

How can legal leaders navigate a future where algorithms influence corporate strategy and data becomes both the most valuable and vulnerable asset? This roundtable offers a forum to explore the strategic questions at the heart of this transformation. It’s a chance to step back from the daily churn and consider the long-term implications for governance, liability, and the very practice of law. Join us for a forward-looking dialogue on adapting legal strategy to the realities of a digitized world.

General counsel are invited to the event and do only have to organise and pay for their travel arrangements. Chatham House rules apply for the meeting.
