TOPIC: NEW EU COMMISSION – FUTURE REGULATIONS AND CHALLENGES AHEAD

European General Counsel are navigating an increasingly complex regulatory and market environment shaped by dynamic forces in both local and global arenas. As digital markets evolve under the EU’s Digital Markets Act (DMA) and with the European Commission’s rigorous stance on merger reviews, particularly in tech and pharmaceutical sectors, General Counsel must exercise thorough due diligence and anticipate potential regulatory challenges. Additionally, the heightened scrutiny on ‘killer acquisitions’ calls for a strategic, nuanced approach to deal-making and long-term planning.

Global geopolitical shifts have further complicated antitrust enforcement, with rising tensions between major economic powers leading to divergent antitrust policies. For multinational corporations, this fragmentation demands region-specific compliance strategies that can adapt to shifting regulations. In parallel, supply chain management is under strain from disruptions like trade wars, sanctions, and escalating ESG regulations, compelling businesses to adopt innovative risk management practices and enhance resilience. How can companies cultivate a supply chain that remains robust and agile amid these volatile conditions?

Simultaneously, digital business models in the EU must contend with a challenging regulatory landscape. Increasing scrutiny over competition, advances in artificial intelligence, and rigorous data privacy standards create both obstacles and opportunities. This session will explore ways for companies to not only comply with key regulations—from the DMA to new AI and data protection laws—but to leverage these frameworks as catalysts for innovation and competitive advantage.

Join us for a captivating discussion on the most pressing issues for legal departments. Chatham rules apply.
