ECLA General Counsel Roundtable – European M&A trends 2022
The General Counsel Roundtable is an invitation only event for general counsel all across Europe, hosted by the European Company Lawyers Association (ECLA). The event will bring together a limited number of general counsel and decision makers from legal departments to discuss in depth about European M&A trends in 2022.
The event is planned as a half-day exclusive meeting that includes open dialogue during a fireside chat on the eve of the roundtable. General counsel are invited to the event and do only have to organise and pay for their travel arrangements.

Louise Wallace

Louise Wallace has been a partner in the Corporate Team since 1997 and is a member of CMS’ Executive Committee.
She covers all aspects of M&A, private equity, corporate finance, takeovers, joint ventures, corporate outsourcing, integrations and governance, and all forms of corporate restructurings.
Louise specialises in the hotels & leisure and the consumer and retail sectors. She is ranked in the top tier of Chambers 2016 for her work in the hotels & leisure sector and is recognised in Chambers for M&A (High End) GBP 250m+ deals.
Louise has acted on many of the leading M&A transactions in the Hotels & Leisure sector. She has advised owners and financiers on countless Management and Franchise Agreements with Hilton, IHG, Marriott, Accor as well as “White Label” Management Agreements with Redefine BDL, Chardon, Sangine, MacDonald Hotels to name but a few.
On the consumer and retail side, she has an in-depth knowledge of the sector and supports our clients with M&A, competition, media and advertising, food law, etc. Her detailed expertise as a corporate partner means Louise also regularly advises clients across a wide range of other sectors including real estate, manufacturing, support services, industrials and IT.
Dr. Malte Bruhns

Malte is a corporate lawyer at CMS and serves as the firm’s Global Co-Head for Corporate M&A. For nearly 20 years he has advised strategic and financial investors on numerous complex and high-value transactions across various business sectors.
Malte joined CMS in 2005 and was elected partner in 2011. He is often recommended by clients and competitors in leading industry publications for his competent, professional and efficient transaction advice.
Russell has over ten years of experience in advising on merger control, behavioural cases, compliance, market investigations, abuse of dominance, competition law litigation, public procurement, state aid and consumer protection law, both at EU and UK level.
He has a strong focus on competition law and regulatory aspects of technology, media & telecoms matters, and also specialises on competition law questions arising in consumer products and real estate contexts. The construction, energy, financial services, life sciences, shipping and manufacturing sectors are other areas where he has extensive experience.
Alexander Rakosi is a leading expert for corporate law/M&A as well as private equity and insolvency & restructuring. He is a partner at CMS Reich-Rohrwig Hainz and a member of the corporate transactions team in Vienna.
Alexander Rakosi advises leading corporations, investment funds and financial institutions in the areas of M&A, private equity and restructuring in both domestic and international projects.
After his law studies in Vienna and at the University of Michigan Law School (LLM), Alexander Rakosi worked for several years at Sullivan & Cromwell in New York in the areas of M&A, private equity and corporate finance. Alexander Rakosi is also admitted to the bar in England/Wales and New York.
Daniela Murer is Partner in the Commercial / M&A department. In 2017 she began collaborating with the Firm in the Milan office.
Her focus is on corporate and commercial law. She has extensive experience in cross-border M&A transactions, joint ventures, commercial agreements and contracts.
Daniela Murer regularly assists foreign and Italian clients in relation to their investments in Italy and abroad.
